Education Journalists and Education Media Contacts

The journalists below are interested in university/education stories. You can stay anonymous

You can ask the journalist to be anonymous when they publish your story, which means your name (or anything that makes you recognisable to the public) will not appear in their story. You can ask the journalist to listen to your story and the information you have but they will not be able to print that information because, for example, that would put your job or career at risk, so they would be using that information for “research” only. If you’re unsure as to whether you would like to be named or if you want your information to be used, it is advisable to tell this to the journalist upfront and then – once you are sure you are comfortable with your name or information being used – you can tell the journalist you have changed your mind. In the UK, the “printed” media (except The Guardian) is regulated by IPSO and TVs and radio stations are regulated by Ofcom: feel free to contact them if you have any questions on your rights.

Hannah Price: Journalist at BBC News/ BBC Three. Hannah is an online journalist who specialises in sensitive reporting of sexual violence, in particular sexual violence at universities (after sharing her own experience of being assaulted at university in 2018). This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Twitter: @hanhanprice

She is currently working on an investigation into how sexual violence on campus is affecting students and how reports are handled by universities for the BBC. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved or find out more.

She's happy to answer any questions if someone is thinking about sharing their story. There is no pressure to decide to go through with sharing a story or experience after talking to her, as survivor wellbeing is the number one priority. She is also committed to finding the most comfortable way of sharing traumatic experiences for the individual if they decide to go ahead (whether it be face to face, over messages, over Skype, through anonymous videos or voice notes). Stories can be completely anonymous and will be handled with the upmost care. You can contact her on twitter (@hanhanprice), email (This email address is being protected from spambots. If you would like to read her own story you can here.

Leonid Schneider: independent science journalist, with around 13 years of biomedical research experience in molecular cell biology, stem cells and cancer research; on his website, he gives voice to such concerned scientists who would normally never dare to speak out their critique, for fear of their influential colleagues.
